Our Story
The Beginning
Caleb and Karsen’s journey began in the summer of 2017 on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic. Their paths crossed on the early morning flight where they were seated alphabetically by last name. Karsen and Caleb grew a connection while running Bible camps and sports clinics during the trip. Caleb’s intelligence, athleticism, and competitive spirit drew Karsen in, sparking a connection. During their trip, Karsen’s lively conversation and playful flirtations caught Caleb’s attention, though it took a bit for him to catch on!
Throughout Karsen’s senior year, they shared memorable moments like Homecoming and Prom, and Karsen cheered Caleb on at his football games.
Long-Distance Dating
Their relationship soon faced the challenge of long-distance as Karsen attended Ole Miss while Caleb stayed in Austin to finish high school. Despite the distance, they made the most of their time together, enduring over 20 flights, long drives, and numerous visits. Their love grew stronger through these trials, trusting in God’s plan for their relationship. After nearly two years of long-distance, the Pandemic pushed all college courses online and brought Karsen back to Texas.
Reunited Again
In fall 2020, they enrolled at Texas Tech University, where Caleb started his freshman year and Karsen began her junior year in nursing school. They embraced new adventures together, from hiking Palo Duro Canyon to adopting their beloved dog, Bentley. After navigating the ups and downs of college life, Karsen begin her career in Austin at Dell Children’s Medical Center. One short year later, Caleb returned to Austin to begin his career in hospitality management.
The Proposal
After six years of shared memories and experiences, Caleb knew it was time to take the next step. With the support of their families, he planned a proposal that would be both memorable and meaningful. On December 20, 2023, Caleb surprised Karsen with a proposal that unfolded in a walk-down memory lane to a small, candle-lit chapel. The story of their love was narrated through heartfelt letters presented by family members, leading Karsen on a symbolic path to where Caleb awaited on one knee.
What’s Next
As they prepare to embark on this new chapter together, Karsen and Caleb have placed their trust in God’s plan. They are excited to move to Fort Worth, Texas, where Karsen will attend graduate school. They look forward to advancing their careers and cherishing the joys of newlywed life.
